 The background of thin, alternating black and white stripes characteristic of women's chief's blankets is all but eclipsed by the six triangular eyedazzler motifs emerging from the margins of this blanket. The horizontal brown stripe at the center (a motif common to Ute-style First Phase chief's blankets and Navajo brown-center mantas) grounds all the activity of vivid color and exaggerated design taking place above and below it. - Joshua Baer`
